    The website of the Nutrition Society whose aim is to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its application to the maintenance of human and animal health.     Part of the website of the British Broadcasting Association, providing a wealth of information on nutrition and health related issues. The content is aimed at both child and adult visitors to the site with factual information on a range of clinical conditions in which dietary intervention is recommended as well as general healthy eating advice and a number of interactive tools and games, including a BMI calculator and calorie counter. www.bbc.co.uk/health/nutrition

  • Food Standards Agency

    The website of the Food Standards Agency, which is an independent food safety watchdog set up to protect the public's health and consumer interests in relation to food. The FSA, and therefore the website, are particularly focused on reducing food borne illnesses (food poisoning) by improving food safety and helping people to eat more healthily. The site provides general food and healthy eating information with up to date facts covering all issues relating to food and food safety.

    The website of the Health Professions Council (formerly known as the Committee for Professions Supplementary to Medicine), which is an independent, UK-wide regulatory body responsible for setting and maintaining standards of professional training, performance and conduct of the 12 healthcare professions that it regulates. Dietetics is one of these 12 regulated professions and this site allows you to check that your individual dietitian is registered with the HPC and therefore qualified to provide dietetic advice. www.hpc-uk.org/register/
